Utah Drought Management Seminar

Technologies and Solutions for Drought Management and Tree Injection Best Practices

Although the most current storms have helped fill some reservoirs and brought much needed snow to the western region of the US, we are still in a multi-decade long drought and for the foreseeable future will continue to deal with the impacts of this. However, there are tools and cultural practices that as landscape and tree care professionals we can utilize to help protect and improve the health of our clients’ and constituents’ woody ornamentals and large trees while dealing with watering restrictions and shortages. During this free half-day seminar, we’ll cover what those tools and cultural practices are and hear from industry experts with practical experience.

11:30-12:30 pm Innovative Solutions for Desperate Drought Situations
Alison Herrell, Arborologist, Rainbow Ecoscience

It’s no secret that drought has been plaguing many parts of the country, especially the Western United States. Our urban trees are already under an immense amount of stress due to their conditions and drought is exacerbating things, making them more susceptible to diseases and pests. Luckily, many scientists have been studying innovative ways to help mitigate drought. This presentation will review some watering protocols and cultural management options, as well as provide an overview of some technologies such as SARs, PGRs, and soil amendment tools that might be utilized to assist landscape and arborist professionals.
